District Athletics Championships 2017

On Wednesday 30th of August students from Coburg North competed in the District Athletics Championships at Harold Stevens Athletics Track in Coburg. The competition involved 11 other schools representing the Coburg District. I am extremely proud of every child and I congratulate them on their fitness, dedication, team spirit, personal behavior, performance, determination and great sporting behaviour.

It was a pleasure to see every child “be their best” and give everything they possibly could. There were so many “personal best” performances by students on the day which, for me, was the most satisfying outcome of the entire day.

The children who attended were: Izobell, Eva Mc, Aya, Clara, Jem, Caden, Claudio, Allae, Mahammed. T, Lauren, Anthony, Olivia, Emma H, Jonas-Pierre, Oliver L C, Lalli, Taha, Edwin, Pascal, Archie T, Hannah B, Tilda, Willow, Jemma, Liam P, Mohammed E, Luca, Archie L, Jesse, Logan, Frank, Ben T, Ada, Juliet, Emma, Charlotte, Celia, Romany, Eva C, Hana, Ella L, Annie, Imogen, Mohamed K, Emilio, Douglas, Noah R, Noah W, Dimitrios. Congratulations also to those students who spent a huge amount of time training but weren’t able to make it on the day: Aimee, Madeline, Zac and Marley.

A huge thank you to our emergencies, they had an extremely important role because their presence ensured we could still compete in every event as they were available replace anyone who was ill or got injured on the day. Also another massive thank you to Haylie S and Tom for being such positive role models and a great help at high jump, throughout the day.

I would also like to thank the parents and relatives who came and supported us. Thank-you to the staff who came on the day for their help and assistance, as well as the staff back at school for their understanding with timetable changes, etc. Thanks also to Debb and Stephanie for their fantastic work keeping tabs on permission notes, money and last minute phone calls.

WELL DONE EVERYONE!!

Although there were many outstanding achievements, unfortunately only the first and second place getter in each event progresses through to the Divisional Championships. These will be held on 11th October at Meadowglen Athletics Track. The successful athletes are: Izobell (100m, 200m), Allae (200m, Triple jump, 100m relay), Claudio (800m,1500m &100 relay), Jem (100m relay), Caden (100 relay)

Congratulations and good luck to all these students!
