Parents & Friends
Coburg North Primary School is proud to provide its students with quality education and care. Our school community is strengthened by the combined efforts of Staff, School Council, Parents and other volunteers resulting in a nurturing and inspiring learning environment.
There are many ways in which you can be involved at Coburg North Primary School. Volunteers are used in various roles throughout the school. We have parent volunteers assisting in the library, classroom and the gym as well as helping to maintain the grounds or doing special projects throughout the school.
Volunteers have helped the school with tasks as diverse as: painting the chook shed, updating this website, assisting with the Mother's Day breakfast, helping market the Farmers Market and preparing props for the school concert. Whether you are a parent, grandparent, other relative or a community member interested in volunteering with the children the school welcomes all offers of help.
School volunteers undergo a working with Children Check as part of the volunteering orientation process.
Parents & Friends Group
Parents & Friends forms a vital link between parents, teachers and the school leadership team. By working together as a community, we can create a collective parent voice at School Council, generate funding, improve facilities and provide enriching opportunities for our children and their families.
One vital role of Parent & Friends in the school community is fundraising, however we do limit the amount of fundraising activities Parent & Friends can run in a year, so as not to overextend the amount they are asking from parents, both in time volunteered and donations made.
Parent & Friends run the fundraising at the Farmers Market, the Bunnings BBQ, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls (where students are able to purchase gifts), as well as co-ordinating food offerings at the Twilight Sports and other social events.
Other fundraisers are as much about raising student engagement as raising money and include once a term theme days with special food (eg popcorn and icy pole day) and the Family Disco.
The Parents & Friends blog shows the groups involvement in the schools activities. To access the blog either click the link in the bar below or click here.
Meetings are held regularly in the community room (younger siblings of school children are welcome to come along) and everyone is always welcome and appreciated.
You can email Parents & Friends if you would like more information or wish to get involved.
